The
Uberfish Saga!
The
story of a fish that defied the odds.
The Ceremony
| In a ceremony commemorating the bravery of Uberfish, his cousin has been removed from Fish-topia (the sump) and placed in the Uberfish Memorial Aquarium. Two eagerly-awaiting companions greeted him as he was lowered into his new home. After nearly six months of living on his own, with no food or care of any kind, he has proven himself a survivor in the true spirit of Uberfish. Not only did he survive, he thrived in Fish-topia, growing large and fat. Here is a documentation of the events as they unfolded... |
Preparing for battle! The power of the Ubercousin must not be underestimated. He is the lone survivor of 12 fish, he has grown large and powerful despite the lack of any food for months, and he shows little fear of anything. Not wanting to put my hands directly in the water for fear of having them bit off, I put on protective armor and got a large fish net. |
First major obstacle: The net I would need to catch such a fast fish wouldn't fit around all the equipment in the sump. I had to attempt the removal of a large protien skimmer. After disassembly, the skimmer was still too large to be removed. Holding the heavy and awkward device up with one arm, I slid the net down into the sump and below the skimmer. A fierce battle then ensued! |
Victory! With the Ubercousin caught at last, I gently lifted him from his home of nearly six months and began his journey to the Ubertank. Passing the big tank and the scene of the famous Uberfish Saga was a somber reminder of the reasons for his own existance. His former home and the big tank growing smaller in his sight, we continued his journey through dark hallways toward his salvation. |
| His first glimpse of the Ubertank, as we entered the room. What strange sights these must have been for a creature who has spent most of his life in one secluded place. |
Here is the first picture of the Ubercousin in his new home. He hadn't seen other fish for a long time, most of his life in fact. To acclimate him to his new environment I transfered water from his old home along with gravel from the big tank into the Ubertank. The lights remained off for a day to get him used to the brightness of the room. |
I was frightened by the way he looked at me, as seen in this photo. I think he's planning something evil. It's kind of hard to read a fish's facial expressions so maybe he was thanking me? I don't think so. |
This is Ubercousin at play. In the true spirit of Uberfish he quickly overcame fear and doubt of his new home, and embraced it and it's inhabitants. He appreciates their company greatly! He shall live out his days here, in peace and serenity surrounded by friends. |
