Kotzebue is a small whaling town located on the northwestern coast
of Alaska in the Kotzebue Sound (part of the Bering Sea). It's a
very remote place, only accessible by air. I didn't find much to
do there but was amused by "water skipping" which entails
removing a snowmobile's foam seat and going full speed into the
ocean. Many of them slow down and sink. In winter, the ocean completely
freezes. In fact, it's so thick that if a 737 aircraft misses the
runway they land on the ocean!
