Hope, Alaska is an old gold mining town which only recently became a tourist spot. Because of this, it's more authentic than most old towns of its type I've been to. Hope is a very small place so there isn't much to do, but like anywhere in Alaska it's worth a visit. A beautiful campground is located just up the road and I saw many large salmon being pulled from the river running beside the town.
